Patricia Brooks

Patricia Brooks (Sullivan) of Brewster, MA, formerly of Provincetown and South Boston, MA set out on her final journey on February 27, 2025 at the age of 71 after

a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at AccentCare Hospice in Milton, MA.

A woman of remarkable strength and unwavering determination, Patricia was fiercely independent, passionate, and lived life on her own terms.

Patricia was born in Boston, MA on September 5, 1953 to George and Alice Brooks. She was raised in South Boston along with her eight siblings. She grew up in a lively home as one of nine children, surrounded by the love and chaos that comes with a big family. From an early age, she learned the importance of resilience, loyalty and the importance of standing her ground. She graduated  from South Boston High School in 1971. Soon after James Sullivan swept her off of her feet and they married in 1974. Together they raised two beautiful,strong and independent daughters, Rachael and Paula. Patricia’s real pride and joy were her grandchildren Tyler, Emma, Ryan and Sophia. The kids loved  spending time with Nana. Every visit with Nana was always an adventure, she was by far the coolest Nana ever.

For 25 years, she poured her heart, soul and sweat into the Bradford House, transforming it into more than a bed and breakfast - it was a haven of warmth, laughter and unforgettable memories for travelers from all walks of life. The Bradford House was no ordinary guest house, when you stayed with Pat you became part of her family. Mornings on the deck were serene; the sound of laughter and the smell of coffee and freshly baked blueberry muffins filled the air. Everyone checked in with Mama Pat to let her know their plans for the day or how their night went. Whether you were a first time visitor or a returning  family friend, Pat made sure that you left with a story to tell and a reason to return.

While running a large guest house and motel would be more than a full-time job, Pat always found time for those in need. She co-founded Kitchen Angels in Provincetown, dedicated to providing families with Christmas dinners, trees, and gifts. Additionally, she was actively involved with HOW and the AIDS Support Group, always ready to help others in need—whether by filling someone's oil tank, purchasing an appliance, or even offering her own coat.

Despite her busy life, she always made time for those around her, near and far. She had a remarkable way of making everyone feel like family, whether by listening, offering advice, sharing Goldens, or just being a comforting presence. Yet, she always knew how to tell you to “get over yourself” when needed. All who had the privilege of knowing Pat felt that motherly love. She opened her heart to all who walked into her life, offering love, guidance, and a safe space for all to feel welcome. Over the years, Pat earned many nicknames; Ma, Mama, Nana, coupon Trish, Baroness of Bradford Street, the “mayor” of Provincetown, and ringleader of the Sh$tshow.

Beyond her life as an innkeeper, she was a true explorer. Provincetown was her anchor, but the world was her playground. She embraced every adventure that came her way, always on the move - whether traveling to new places, hunting for treasures in thrift shops, or sharing laughter and stories with family and friends. She loved her weekly bingo nights, trips to the supermarket with her coupons, frequent trips to the casino, afternoons at Tea Dance, or simply strolling down Commercial Street stopping to talk to a million people along the way. Most recently, after receiving her terminal diagnosis, Pat immediately booked a trip for a world cruise. She packed up her “Gucci” bag aka her oxygen tank and set sail. She traversed many countries making many friends along the way.

Patricia was predeceased in death by her mother Alice Brooks, her father Brooks, her brothers Kenneth Brooks, Ronald Brooks, Richard Brooks, her sisters Nancy Sassone and Joan Raymond, her former spouse James Sullivan. She is survived by her daughters Rachael Sullivan Sigsbee and her husband Carl Sigsbee of Harwich, Paula Sullivan and her husband Gerard Daly of Milton. Her grandchildren Tyler Sullivan Prada of Milton, Emma Sullivan Johnson of Harwich, Ryan Czyoski of Harwich, Sophia Sullivan Daly of Milton. Her brothers, George Brooks and his wife Joyce of Duxbury, John Brooks and his late husband Salvo of Plymouth, Gary Brooks and his wife Winifred of Plymouth. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Patricia donated her body to Boston University School of Medicine Anatomical Gifts Program in hopes of providing valuable information about Pulmonary Fibrosis for medical education and research. A celebration of life will be held in Provincetown this Spring.
