Katherine J. Kirkpatrick, 58, of South Boston and formerly of Wynnewood, Pa., died April 29, 2014 at home following a battle with cancer. It was a battle she handled with grace and dignity. As she traveled this difficult road she was surrounded by family and her many friends.
A graduate of Denison University, she went on to earn her law degree from the Suffolk University Law School in 1993 and received her MPA in Public Affairs from the University of Massachusetts Boston in 2010. She was fluent in French and loved the beach and traveling.
She was the daughter of the late Jane N. and John A. Kirkpatrick MD. She is survived by her beloved companion Lawrence C. Murray of South Boston; her brother John A. Kirkpatrick III and his wife Sara Kirkpatrick of Lancaster, Pa.; sister Ann K. Tripp and her husband Dale E. Perkins of Rutland, MA; former sister-in-law Theresa Kirkpatrick; nieces and nephews Elizabeth Tripp and Samuel Tripp; Kate and Randy Kortum, John Kirkpatrick IV and his fiancee Yukako Kato; Alec Kessler and Amy Kessler, and cousin Will Kessler and wife Jill of Waynesboro, Pa.
A celebration of Katie's life will be held Saturday, May 10 in the Wm. F. Spencer Funeral Home, 575 E.
