McCue - Joan (nee Gorman) – of Washingtonville, NY, entered into eternal rest on
December 10, 2020 after suffering a massive stroke over the Thanksgiving weekend.
Joan was born in Somerville, MA to Charles and Eleanor Gorman. After graduating
from Regis College, Joan moved to NYC where she met her husband of 51 years,
Frank T. McCue, Jr.
Joan lived her Catholic faith every day of her life. A member of the Executive Boards of
FISH and HUB II Housing, Joan was a longtime community volunteer who always put
others before herself. She is survived by her five children: Kathleen (Anthony) Masiello,
Karen (Jeff) Antos, Frank T. McCue III, Charles (Vivian Alvarez) McCue and Stephen
McCue and by grandchildren Ariel and Madeline Masiello, David, Rachel and Thomas
Antos, Morgan and Frank T. McCue IV, Griffin McCue, Jack McCue and Kevin McCue.
For almost 40 years, Joan was the Washingtonville School District’s tax collector and
was the internal auditor for both the Washingtonville and Cornwall School Districts. For
decades she managed the polls on Election Day and savored being with her neighbors
as they exercised their right to vote. She loved her country and her community, her
friends and her family. She treated everyone with respect and her gracious hospitality
welcomed all into her heart and into her home, which was the site of many joyful
gatherings and cherished memories.
Joan was predeceased by her parents, her brother James (Kathleen) Gorman and her
beloved husband. She is survived by siblings Charles (Shirley, deceased) Gorman,
Mary McCarthy (Bonnie Winokar) and Paul (Sue) Gorman, and many loving nieces and
nephews.
A memorial to celebrate the life of Joan Gorman McCue will be held on Saturday,
January 2, 2021 at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville. Face masks
required. Joan donated her body to medical science. If desired, memorial donations
may be made to Special Olympics or to Hub II Housing Authority in Washingtonville,
NY. Those who knew Joan have lost a shining light in their lives. May her loving Irish
eyes keep smiling on us all.
