JAMES M. TOWER

JAMES MAHLON TOWER SR.
The legendary James M. Tower Sr. of Hilton Head Island, SC, formerly of South Boston, MA, and of the Planet Eucalus died April 4, 2016 at home in Hilton Head after eight blissful years of retirement, and a short battle with cancer.
Jimmy first made headlines when he was born in a Paddy Wagon in South Boston on July 13, 1948.
A true self-made man, he was the proud founder of Southie’s famous Hub Discount, Hub Video, The Hub, and Jimmy’s Korner. He was much loved by the South Boston community.
Always a little inappropriate yet full of life, he never hesitated to help someone in need or burst out into a crazy song. He coached basketball, sailed the oceans of New England and the Virgin Islands, and played the guitar. He was most generous at Christmas and helped many local families that were down on their luck.
He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Margaret (Smith) Tower, his children Tracy Falletti of New Bedford MA, Jamie and her husband John Smith of Whydoyouliveoutthere AR, Katherine Tower of Watertown MA, his son James Tower Jr. of Bluffton SC, daughter-in-Law Jennifer Valley of East Brookfield, MA, brothers Kenny Tower of MA, Billy and Glen McChesney of FL, mother and stepfather Kay and Mac McChesney of FL and many inlaws, outlaws, nieces, nephews, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He will join his son Scott, brothers John, Bob and his sister Patty in the after-life.
Jimmy loved Jujyfruits, Chinese food, banana splits, Bugs Bunny, the zipper lane and polo shirts. He was quite fond of people’s ears (especially earlobes). But, most of all, he loved his friends and family.
His favorite songs were “Puff the Magic Dragon” and “Yellow Submarine”. His favorite movies were “Same Time, Next Year” and “Mars Attacks”.
Memorial Service will be on Sunday April 24th from 10:00 am - 12:30 pm at Spencer Funeral Home in South Boston.
In lieu of flowers, tell someone you love them, lick their face, and then make a donation to Globe Santa https://globesanta.org or Hospice Care of the Lowcountry.http://www.hospicecarelc.org
