Garrett Francis Degenhardt

Garrett “Getty” Francis Degenhardt passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. He was born on September 18, 1993, and was 31 years old. He was educated in Taunton and Brockton schools and graduated from Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in 2012. Garrett studied liberal arts at Massasoit State College. After college, he worked several jobs in the retail and service industries. Garrett was a loving son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. Garrett expressed his love for God through music, poetry, photography, and art. Known as Getty Diesel on YouTube, Garrett produced videos and his podcast “Not Finished Yet”. Garrett attempted to live out Christ’s love by putting on the full armor of God as he served others. Garrett was a devoted member of Lion of Judah Church, where he participated in many ministries, including Freedom Group, Young Adult Bible studies, Men’s Breakfast, and Miracle Mile Ministries (a ministry to the homeless). He frequently preached about God‘s love and sacrifice on the Boston Common on Thursday mornings to all who listened. Notably, Garrett demonstrated his love for God through action. He realized the potential of others through the eyes of God. His friendly smile and genuine concern shone through his conversations. Whether he was working out at the Y, selling painted rocks in the park, or eating healthy meals with family and friends, Garrett expressed gratitude for everything. He was kind, compassionate, thoughtful, and generous. Garrett was predeceased by his father, Michael Peter Degenhardt; his brother, Austin Michael Degenhardt; and his grandparents, Melvin Francis Bernard, Levena Gladys Bernard, Robert Francis Lucas, and Alice Marie Lucas. Garrett is survived by his mother, Debra Lee Rollo, of Brighton, MA; two aunts, Donna Lee Johnson, of Taunton, MA, and Patricia Ann Fisher, of Swanzee, NH; one uncle, Glenn Loring Johnson, of Taunton; seven cousins; and two foster moms, Gail PremDas and Ruth Silva, both of Brockton.
