ANGNEY, David H. Passed away peacefully Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in Roslindale at the age
of 79. David was a voracious reader and versatile pianist, a person with great curiosity and a
hearty laugh. He grew up in Wellesley, the eldest son of Edna Rydberg and D. Harry Angney,
and attended Perkins School for the Blind, Noble and Greenough School, Amherst College, and
Boston University. David worked as a Human Resources officer at New England Life Insurance
Company and in his free time sang with Masterworks Chorale and choirs at Trinity Church
Boston and Christ Church Cambridge. He was a strong swimmer who reveled in doing laps,
going deep out into Lake Winnisquam in New Hampshire, or battling waves along Cape Cod.
Because David was blind since birth, he would pause his strokes every few minutes to hear
directions yelled by family from shore. In recent years, he received compassionate care at
Hebrew SeniorLife in Roslindale. David is predeceased by his parents and brother Mark N.
Angney. He is survived by: brother Brett R. Angney and his wife Dale Whittington Angney of
Shaker Heights, OH; sister-in-law Nancy Gilmore Angney of Roslindale; nieces and nephew
Heather, Elizabeth and Todd; and grandnieces Ellika and Zoe. Donations in David Angney’s
memory may be directed to the Library Fund of the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 N Beacon
Street, Watertown, MA 02472 or Perkins.org.
