ANNE MARIE KELLEY

Anne Marie Bernadette Leonard Donovan Kelley, age 84 years young, a long time resident of South Boston, passed away peacefully at Mass. General Hospital from a recent illness with family by her side. Beloved wife and mother, she was predeceased by her first ex-husband, Ian Eric Michael Donovan, a retired Naval officer. She is survived by her 5 daughters, Valerie Donovan Katsohis and her husband Charles, Megan Donovan, Karen Donovan, Michele Torrusio, PhD. and her husband, Andreas Hanser, Victoria Lackey, M.D. and her husband, Philip Lackey, M.D., grandsons Michael and Will and granddaughters Claire and Lina, and sister-in-law, Wendy Donovan Briggs, and many nieces and nephews. The last of 12 siblings raised in South Boston, Anne was always hard at work, sewing her clothes, helping with siblings and later, moved to Washington, DC where she worked before she married and raised her family. She received her Bachelors and Masters in Physics from Old Dominion University. A computer engineer retired from Honeywell Bull, Anne was an accomplished and giving woman who was always helping friends and family, available for a long chat and advice, passing along her extensive knowledge on so many subjects but especially, health and wellness. Anne’s love of life and active lifestyle was an inspiration to so many. After studying Mandarin Chinese at Harvard’s adult extension program, Anne travelled to China and taught English and computer programming at a university there and travelled the countryside while speaking the language she loved! She loved travelling and lived in South Korea years earlier, and over the years travelled around the US to be with her widespread family. She loved teaching and was a coach and mentor to her students in South Korea and China through the years. A former runner, Anne could often be found walking for miles every day around Boston, working out at the gym, walking on the beach, at the library and talking to friends and family; she will be missed by all.
